Szigligeti Kabócás Olaszrizling

Description

Our premium olaszrizling gets its name from the Kabócás vineyard, which is located on the south side of Antal-hegy (Szigliget). The area is protected by the mountains on three sides, and the waters of Lake Balaton reflect the sun's rays back on it from the south. The combination of these features means that the area is warm and sheltered from the wind, therefore an ideal wintering place for manna cicadas, which in the early 2000s, when we bought the vineyard, were absolutely not common residents of the area.

What is good for manna is not always ideal for grapes. Due to the lack of air movement, the area is difficult to cultivate, so we rely heavily on maintaning an open, airy foliage structure and thorough green work. The area is also characterized by botrytis, or noble rot, which gives Kabócás its characteristic notes.
